Our elephant hide belts
are a double layered laminated and heavy stitched belt.
The top elephant hide is backed with a smooth premium top grain USA cowhide
to give you a smooth and comfortable belt. This belt is thick and tough and the
look of elephant is hard to ignore. It is a deep grain that varies from one end
of the belt
to the other and you can tell right away you have a genuine hide. If you
have a desire to own a one of a kind belt, this is it.
Unlike some belt makers, we purchase our elephant hides from leather tanneries
that only buy directly from African State supported exporters and all hides are
obtained
in a legal and controlled manner supported and licensed by the local African
authorities. What you get is a very fine quality belt with the best hides available (approx. 1/4" thick). Compare

Harvesting Elephant Hides Legally
Elephant comes into the US as a carefully regulated product subject to tight
controls. If it comes from legitimate sources the skins are tracked back to
the country of origin and, the park or preserve where it was harvested. And,
in turn, the responsible countries/parks/ management teams are required to
faithfully monitor, record, and tag all skins with dates and places of
harvest, reasons, and method. Much of this information must be passed on and
must accompany the skins throughout their journey to the final buyer's
consortiums. We purchase our hides from licensed tanneries in the United
States, it is legal. Tanneries buy the hides from legitimate sources as a by
product. |
